Season 8 finalist Megan Joy turned 26 on Sunday, September 18th. Megan took to her tumblr account over the weekend to say, “This has been the best year of my life. Thank you 25, it was incredible from day one."
After earning a wildcard spot in the Season 8 finals, Megan made it all the way to ninth place by putting her own quirky twist on some classic songs. While on American Idol, Megan developed a trademark twisty dance. After performing "Rockin' Robin," Megan shouted, "Caw Caw!" which has now become her other trademark.
During Grand Ole Opry week, Megan was so sick with the flu that she was hooked up to an IV just minutes before taking the stage. Despite being so ill, Megan pulled off a great rendition of Patsy Cline's "Walkin' After Midnight." All four judges were extremely impressed with Megan's performance and Simon Cowell even said, "You should have the flu every week!"
Megan began recording songs after she toured the country with the Top 10 finalists on the American Idols LIVE! 2009 Tour. She has released original songs called "Feel Love," "Incomplete," “Sweet Love,” “Ryder on the Storm” (named after her son Ryder), “Trouble Me,” “I’m Not Trying to Hear That,” and “Boy Next Door” on her social network pages. “Boy Next Door” was featured on an episode of the TV show The Deep End.
Last month, Megan married Quinn Allman, from the band The Used. Recently, Megan used KickStarter.com to raise funds to record her debut EP. She asked for $15,000 and her fans helped her surpass her goal. Get ready for her EP!
Happy Birthday, Megan!
