Lauren Alaina was this season’s American Idol runner-up, and the country singer already has big dreams. She admitted to The Boot she wants to work with her idol Taylor Swift on her album.
“I want to write with Taylor Swift, but I think that’s kind of impossible,” she said. The teen admits she’s been a songwriter her whole life.
“My uncle’s wife had a car wreck and was in the hospital, so I wrote a song and sang it to her,” Lauren spoke of the first song she wrote. “My mom keeps them all, and my handwriting was horrible! You can tell I was a little kid.”
For now Lauren is working with producers to select the perfect songs for her album while trying to understand the legal parts of signing with a record label. So far she’s recorded a few demos and said her experience so far is good. “A few of them I’m really excited about,” she said. “Country music’s really good about telling a story, so I want songs that tell good stories where people can say, ‘That happened to me!’”
Though there’s no guarantee songs she writes will make the album, she’s hopeful. “We’re still in the process of figuring things out,” she shared. “If I could do some of my songs, that would be cool. But I have to do whatever is best for my album.”
