Catching Up With Diana DeGarmo,,,,,

Season 3’s runner-up, Diana DeGarmo, has made quite a versatile career for herself since soaring to the American Idol finale. On Monday, October 31st, she will make her debut on The Young and the Restless as Angelina, the Jersey-girl daughter of mob boss Angelo (Mike Starr). We hopped on the phone with the 24-year-old to find out about the character and life after American Idol!

Diana landed the role as Angelina by performing at the right place at the right time. “I booked the part thanks to a performance of Hairspray I was in at the Hollywood Bowl in early August. The right people from Y&R were in the audience and were pleased with my performance, and apparently they saw me as a perfect fit for the gum-smacking Jersey girl who can’t sing.”That’s what is so funny—Diana, who is obviously an amazing singer, has been cast as a character who sings poorly! “Angelina is a fantastic character, and I’m never afraid of a challenge. In comedy there’s no vanity. It’s a lot of fun because you get to throw the ego out and belt out whatever comes.

US pop sensation Kelly Clarkson admits she never seen herself as a singer until high school,,,,

KELLY CLARKSON has revealed that a passion for pistols helps her let off steam when she's taking time out from her busy music career. The original American Pop Idol winner likes to swap her status as a million-selling singer for that of gunslinger when she returns home to Fort Worth, Texas.

She insists the anti-gun lobby are unlikely to persuade her, or her fellow Texans, that they should give up their right to bear arms because "guns don't kill people, people kill people".Kelly says: "We had guns growing up but I wasn't riding horses to school or anything. We shot cans out back. I do that even now."If I am shooting out back I use a shotgun or a Colt 45. That's my favourite, it's got a kick to it, but that's a cool gun. I have, like, nine guns."Heck, I grew up around them. Once you're safe with them and have been taught how to handle them and stuff, there's nothing wrong with that," she adds.Kelly, who is back with her fifth album Stronger, has sold a staggering 23 million albums and is probably best known for her powerful songs of break-ups and heartache. But the 29-year-old singer admits that she has never actually been in love.Instead of spending time with her dream man, over the last decade Kelly has been building up a world-wide following, one that has been growing ever since she won American Idol back in 2002.Asked if real-life romances have helped with her songwriting, she explains: "I've never actually been in love so I wouldn't know the answer to that."The song You Love Me from the new album isn't about a relationship with a guy."It is a different type of relationship, that song. A song may be about betrayal or dishonesty, but I write more about relationships with family and friends.

These 'American Idol' Losers Are Decimating The Winners In Real Life,,,

The music label RCA is going through a major reorganization right now -- and one of the artists bearing the brunt of it is Lee Dewyze.

Dewyze, the season nine winner of "American Idol," has been dropped by the label. And now that huge record contract, the brass ring at which all "Idol" hopefuls grasp, is kaput.

Post-"Idol" life is funny that way — some of the winners fade out of the spotlight, and some of the contestants sent home in tears make an enormous comeback.

Happy Birthday, Jorge Nuñez!,,,,

Season 8 finalist Jorge Nuñez celebrated his birthday on October 1. American Idol traveled to Puerto Rico for the very first time to audition hopefuls for Season 8. Their search turned up Jorge, the only contestant from Puerto Rico to make the Top 13. Originally, Jorge's grandfather was going to send Jorge to the states to audition for American Idol, but, unfortunately, he passed away the December before auditions. Since he was unable to pay for his own trip, Jorge felt blessed when Idol traveled to Puerto Rico for auditions.

For Jorge's semi-final round performance, he sang Elton John's "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me," and received positive reviews from the four judges. Hearing such praise made Jorge cry, and when Jorge gets emotional, he speaks in Spanish, and he did just that on the Idol stage. Ultimately, it was the Top 13's double elimination week that sent him packing. Jorge was optimistic about his journey and said this is "just the start of something much bigger."

Happy Birthday, Jorge!

Daughtry Announces Third Album Release Date and Title,,,,,,,,

Season 5 Chris Daughtry's multi-platinum selling rock band, Daughtry, has announced details about its highly anticipated third album, which will be called Break The Spell. It will be released by 19 Recordings/RCA Records on November 21st - five years to the day that the band released its self-titled 5x-platinum debut album, which shot straight to No. 1, as did the group's second, 2009's platinum Leave This Town. Two tracks have been released to radio: "Renegade," which is climbing the chart at Rock, and "Crawling Back To You," which was the No. 1 Most-Added track at Hot AC this week and could become the band's fifth No. 1 at the format.

Break the Spell is a gleaming showcase for frontman Chris Daughtry's powerful, emotionally resonant voice and knack for relentless melodic hooks and big, anthemic choruses. Produced by Howard Benson, who produced Daughtry's two previous albums, Break The Spell gives the band room to evolve musically while aiming to satisfy its many long-time fans. "Going in to the writing sessions, we said, 'Let's not try to sound like anything. Let's just write, and see what happens,'" says Chris, who co-wrote every song with either one of his band-mates (guitarists Josh Steely and Brian Craddock and bassist Josh Paul) or collaborators such as Marti Frederiksen, Busbee, and Bret James. "We came up with some pretty interesting tunes that sound nothing like anything we've done before. Even though some of them didn't make the album, the process stretched us and took us to new places. It was an absolutely inspirational experience." The risk-taking is apparent on such primal, slithering rockers as the hard-driving "Renegade," which Entertainment Weekly praised for its "wind-in-your-eyes hook and leather-glove-to-the-sky chorus" calling it "the ideal soundtrack for hitting the highway." "I wanted it to be really upbeat and hard-hitting," Chris explains. "At the same time, "Crawling Back To You" is a more uplifting and hopeful song that will appeal to fans who have been with us from the start." More details about Break The Spell, including the track-listing, will be released in the coming weeks so stay tuned to www.daughtryofficial.com. In other Daughtry news, the band has a song featured on the soundtrack to the video game Batman: Arkham City, a heavy rocker called "Drown In You" that is exclusive to the soundtrack, which will be released on October 4th. Daughtry is also featured on the upcoming ZZ Top tribute album A Tribute From Friends with a cover of "Waitin' For The Bus/Jesus Just Left Chicago" due out October 11th.
